What to Expect on Your First Visit to The Farmer's Wife

We are so excited to meet the incredible patients of Missouri. Before you visit The Farmer’s Wife, please make sure your medical marijuana card is easily accessible. You can have a digital or hard copy, just make sure it’s able to be read clearly.
Without your card, we won’t be able to serve you.
Cannabis patient cards in Missouri
Here is an article we wrote explaining how to get your card in Missouri. Put simply, you’ll need to get a recommendation from a board-certified physician licensed to practice in the state of Missouri. Then, you’ll apply with the Department of Health and Senior Services. You’ll need to pay a fee for both steps, and we go into more detail about that in the linked article! Remember: this is not a prescription. It’s simply a recommendation that must be approved by the state of Missouri before you can legally purchase cannabis.
Once you have your patient card, you can print it out or keep it saved on your phone. Many medical cannabis patients choose to print their card and laminate it for safekeeping. Expect to present your patient card and a valid state ID to the Farmer’s Wife team each time you come hangout!
Your personalized comfort is our priority
Our dispensary’s number one focus is making you comfortable. There is only one way to do that, and that’s through meaningful interaction. We take a one-to-one sales approach, unlike other dispensaries where a sales associates might be helping two to three guests at a time. Your experience is important, and even five minutes of uninterrupted conversation allows our team to learn much more about you than we would splitting our time between other people, too. We want to hear your story and be given the chance to make a unique recommendation based on what you’re comfortable sharing.
Medical cannabis is not like other products or industries. It was just illegal in Missouri less than three years ago, and now there are entire storefronts dedicated to it. It can be a little confusing to wrap your head around, which is why The Farmer’s Wife is so focused on patient education and comfortability. You deserve the space to ask questions, feel heard - then receive empathetic and (hopeful) solutions to what you’re facing. After you’re greeted, expect the conversation to go something like this:
Sales associates: “Why are you visiting us today?”
You: “I have chronic anxiety and need something to help me relax.”
Sales associates: “Great! What kind of product are you thinking about? Are you comfortable smoking?”
You: “No, I’m not. I’d like something quick, convenient, and discrete.”
Sales associates: “That’s not a problem at all. I recommend these gummies. They’re CBD-heavy, so you’ll feel relaxed. They are discrete and already dosed, so convenient for busy people like you. Does this work? I have a few different edible products to choose from if you don’t want gummies.”
You: “Let’s do it!”
No matter if you’re shopping with us or not, your sales associates should always be telling you why they recommend that product for you. Ideally, they’ll also suggest an alternative option or two just like our example above.
Here at The Farmer’s Wife, we love a good conversation - especially where cannabis is concerned! There’s no such thing as a stupid question, and we’re here to educate, so don’t be afraid to ask if you don’t know something. We know you have a lot to teach us, too.
Purchasing CBD
Hemp-derived CBD products are great options for people who are nervous about using medical marijuana. Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, industrial hemp is no longer on the Schedule I Substances list. This historic move created a pathway for CBD businesses to thrive legally in the United States, as well as other nations where hemp is legal.
U.S. law requires all industrial hemp products to contain less than 0.3% THC, with anything testing higher forcibly discarded and unable to be used for any purpose. This tiny amount of THC doesn’t create a high, so it’s a great stepping stone product for those who are hesitant. Hemp-derived CBD will interact with the endocannabinoid system just like medical marijuana, just in a different way.
The endocannabinoid system
If you don’t know about the endocannabinoid system, here are some fast facts:
- Every human and animal has an endocannabinoid system (ECS), it is well-researched
- The endocannabinoid system has two (that we know of) cannabinoid-receptors, CB1 and CB2
- THC fits the CB1 receptor like a key and lock, while CBD interacts with the ECS in a more roundabout way
If you’d like to try CBD before trying medical marijuana, pop in to see us and we’ll talk to you about it! Our hemp-derived CBD products are at the front of our store for your convenience.
Some final words
Remember, cannabis hasn’t been proven to cure or treat any disease. There is so much valuable research at our fingertips to utilize. Make sure you have a conversation with your physician before adding cannabis to your wellness routine. We’re excited to see you!
